Clinicians
To explore some of the typical Critical Care challenges and how Dräger can help address them, we will look at a number of process steps that are taken during a possible patient pathway.
Information Access anywhere*
Today’s caregivers are always on the move. To support timely decisions and information sharing among care team members, we provide web-based information management and documentation systems.
- Retrospective hemodynamic and ventilation data analysis with Infinity® Symphony
- Efficient ECG data management with Infinity® MegaCare®
- Seamless data access and integration including backfilling of transport data with Infinity® Innovian® Solution Suite
- Near real-time data on remote networked PCs or PDA via Infinity® WebViewer
*Anywhere refers to all places with mobile phone or internet accessibility.
In-hospital transport
Patient transports can be risky for patients and time-consuming for staff: Searches for transport equipment, disconnection and reconnection of cables and devices, gaps in monitoring and interruption of therapy. Infinity® Pick and Go® allows a seamless switch from bedside to transport monitoring while the TransportMobil provides a streamlined mobile workplace including ventilation, perfusion and fluids.
- No disconnection and reconnection of patient cables and devices
- Seamless switch from wired to wireless monitoring
- Continuous monitoring and therapy
- Automatic adaptation to the monitoring parameter setting configured for a department
Effective ventilation therapy
ICU patients are among the most vulnerable patients in the hospital: An increased risk for infections7, ventilator-induced injuries8 and higher mortality rates after failed extubation9. Dräger considers the entire ventilation process and how it can be improved.
- Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) to prevent intubation whenever possible1
- Lung Protection Package (LPP)** to support a lung protective strategy, which helps reduce the incidence of lung injury by up to 80%2
- AutoFlow® for open breathing in all volume controlled modes, which helps patients to better tolerate mechanical ventilation and thus reduce ventilation alarms by up to 44%2, 3
- SmartCare®/PS automates weaning and reduces overall ventilation time by up to 33%4, 5
- NIV to help enhance recovery times and reduce reintubation rates by up to 70%6
- Dräger NIV masks and completely disposable breathing systems support comfort and patient safety
** requires optional Lung Protection Package for Evita XL.
Comprehensive information at the bedside
Clinical decisions are based on a wealth of information. However, to bring all necessary patient data together, clinicians can spend up to 4+ hours looking for information3. With the dual screen approach of the Infinity® Omega Solution, Dräger brings virtually any clinical information right to the bedside.
- Easy access to hemodynamic measurements, ventilation data, X-rays and DICOM images, patient data management systems, hospital network and remote bed view of up to four other patients
- Monitoring function control from either device
- Always ready for transport
Optimal bedside ergonomics
Cable clutter, device placement issues and limited flexibility to adapt the workplace to changing needs can lead to a poor bedside workflow. Dräger streamlines workflows by providing individual solutions for an organized and efficient workplace, adding-on parameters with ‘SmartPods’ and simplifying cable management:
- Choice of beam, arm and wall-mounted supply systems with ergonomic design that supports flexibility, patient access, easy positioning of devices, hygiene and patient and caregiver safety
- Two-screen approach of Infinity® Omega supports workflow for multiple caregivers
- Evita Remote Pad enables activation of routine functions from any place around the bed
- Up to four pressure lines simply by adding the HemoMed™ Pod
- Reduced cable clutter with MonoLead™, the one wire ECG lead set
Patient-worn monitoring
Patient-worn monitoring presents many challenges: Complex and time-consuming procedure of assigning patients to specific transmitters, searches for pulse oximeters and charged batteries, no stand-alone monitoring outside the network coverage area and lack of visibility of monitoring data as well as battery status at the patient site Infinity® M300 provides innovative ambulatory patient-worn monitoring connected through a standard Wi-Fi connection:
- ECG, heart rate and SpO1 in one device
- Easy assignment of patients to transmitters right from the central station
- Bedside or central battery charger
- Continuous standalone monitoring if patient inadvertently moves outside the hospital network coverage area
- Vigilance right on the device through the color display
- Built-in alarm capability
